3.8 engine...what were they thinking?
Just finished a 2300 mile trip to and from Colorado in our stock 2010 Unlimited Rubicon. The 3.8 L engine is way under powered for long highway trips and inclines through the mountains. I was really disappointed; so much so that I am considering a may trade for a new 4 Runner. I have owned 3 other Jeeps dating back to the late 90's, and have been very happy with all of them. This one has made me question whether I will ever buy another Jeep.
Has anyone had any luck improving performance with reasonably priced add-on mods? I am not interested in spending the kind of money necessary for a supercharger or Hemi engine swap.
Thanks

I have heard the new pentastar engine is more powerful. Just hate to take a bath on a 2 year old vehicle. I am a previous 80 series Landcruiser owner and was extremely happy with the Toyota. I probably would have bought the 4 runner in place of the Jeep, but opted for the solid front axle(similar to my LC) over IFS, and expected the same level of quality as my previous 3 Jeeps.
If anyone knows of add-ons that will help (that are not $40K new Jeeps - LOL), please let me know.

My jku has 35's with 4.10s. I live in the mountains and don't have a single complaint about my jeep. Or my two door that I sold a few months ago with 3.21 gears. I think it's decent.
On another note my company truck is a 2011 f150 with the 305hp v6 and it drives me nuts. Doesn't shift down when it should, slows on hills and revs like mad.
