Default 4-lo in the snow...wheels are jumping?

Is it just the fact that all four tires are in loose snow that makes the wheels feel incredibly jumpy when I am trying to power through it? I don't feel it on the ground or in the mud.

It is a snow thing. The tires are always sinking in, as a result, there is always a "curb" in front of the tire it is trying to climb up, but as soon as it does, it collapses and this is what you are feeling.

Snow can be very hard to go through as it does not push out of the way like mud will do.

Snow can compact and its like driving on a hard surface. Usually no need for 4 Low in snow. Try 4 high and see how it goes for you.

well, when riding snow on the trail , I always go 4low as snow can be very power taking. Also, when front wheels starts jumping, I just gas it up more so wheels kinda "loose" traction, you sure start digging a little more, but it is safer for your drivetrain.

Been driving in the white stuff for around 30 years. Just curious as to why it acts that way. Feels like I am going to break something. I agree with how the power is robbed when it's in 4 hi in deep snow.

when snow is more like fresh powder, it won't jump, but if it is more sticky it will for sure.
