Default 4hi 4lo lights not working

I'm posting for a friend, when he shifts into 4hi or 4lo it's not illuminating on the dash. I was thinking maybe loose connector near the shifter bit not sure, was hoping someone could chime in and assist, thank you

Does it go into 4hi/4lo when he moves the shifter.

I don't have a good answer here but i would try and put it in 4lo and hold the esp button for a few seconds...if it turns esp off the Jeep knows its in 4lo and i would guess its a bad bulb or two. If it doesn't turn esp off it may be a sensor in the transfer case but I'm not sure where the sensor is. The Jeep won't turn esp off in 2wd or 4hi so maybe it will help diagnose the issue
