Default 4WD Dash Light Issues

Hey guys. I noticed that when I start my Jeep, the majority of the time the 4WD light on the dash will stay lit for about 10 seconds, then go away. When I actually switch into 4WD, the light takes about 10 seconds to turn on, and then the same amount of time to turn off when going back to 2WD. I recently got to drive a few other Jeeps, and their lights switched immediately. I'm not sure if the Jeep is actually in 4WD during the time between when I shift the T-Case till when the light comes on. I know this doesn't seem like a big deal, but it still concerns me. Anyone else had this happen?

It's OK, the dash does a "bulb check" when the key is switched to on or run, difference may be in production run on I/P's ( instument panel) or years of production. The computer is just checking circuits at this point.

Well all of the other lights that come on for the bulb test turn off right after i start the Jeep, the 4WD light is the only one that stays on for a while.

Have a service adviser plug in the code scanner to see if there are any errors. Worth a shot if you're that worried about it.

if no codes come up then it may be worth asking the dealer

You can check to see if your 4WD is engaged by placing the shifter into 4WD and turn your steering wheel to the left or right fully and move forward SLOWLY on hard pavement. You should feel a front wheel hop.

I also have the 4wd light coming on for longer than the dash light check, that everyone is talking about.
I have had the Jeep in now 4 time about this in the last 3 months,I've owned the Jeep since Jan07,this just started to happen?
First time was a code check, they said every things fine?
Second time same thing code check, nothings wrong?
Third time had the switch changed on the transfer case and 3 hours later, the same?.So its not the switch?
Forth time dealership had my Jeep for THREE DAYS,and still can't find anything wrong?
So its come down to,its not able to switch into other gears as its all manual,so they have told me to live with it for now until they learn more about it, or until theres a recall on the 4wd light system.
I may just take it to a real automotive electrician
