Default 6 speed shifter bezel...

Can anyone tell me how the bezel is suppossed to be attached to the console? I know it has hooks/clips on the front and back, but is there anything to hold the sides down like an adheasive or double sided tape? One side of mine is loose and bowed up on the passenger side. Went to the dealership this AM since its still under warranty and they told me that is considered a wear and tear part and won't be covered...HORSESHIT but I degress. They told me to fix it with glue or epoxy or some such as thats how it left the factory. Anyone confirm this?

I'd hazard a guess that the top part is separating from the bottom. The bezel has 2 halves that clamp the shift boot. They are plastic welded at each of those fake screw heads. Mine separated a few years ago. I drilled both halves at each point and used some home depot nuts and bolts to fasten them together.

Mine did the same thing a couple years ago. I believe it will just lift straight up. There are some clips holding it down but lifts off fairly easily. I took it off and separated the 2 halves and re-glued it together with some JB Weld. Been good since.
