abs/esp failure lights
I've been having issues with my esp/abs system on my 07 2dr. Last year had it in the dealer 3 times and they kept re-programing it. Then near the end of the winter, finally replaced a wheel sensor and harness. But,, never got bad weather to test it out since till the last couple weeks.. The problem, snow, works good, ice, works good, drive in an area where they spray calcium chloride and within 200-300 yards of the wet chemical the warning beeper goes off and my abs/esp and skid lights go on and stay on, essentially turning off all of these functions. driving thru cleaner spray from the road will clear this or a car wash. I've worked on cars my whole life and try to help the dealer with my knowledge(ASE cert in abs/brakes- but since its warranty I don't touch the jeep) but they didn't want to hear it. The calcium chloride conducts electricity very well, even better than saltwater, so I'm thinking a cracked sensor or a break in the harness.. They reprogrammed the abs for the last recall Friday and asked me to let them know if its fixed. Its not,, not a surprise on my end but,, I'll be returning the jeep to the dealer on Monday.. Anybody else see this before?? Oh, and the entire service writer/manager staff was "let go" at my dealer, the new head guy seems a little more helpful. Hopefully I'll have an answer soon.. I have stopped using the jeep as my main vehicle to keep the warr. from expiring. I did 15k in the first 3 1/2 months I had it, the last 9 month 3k. I'd like to drive it more so I hope they fix it!

Sounds like it would fit under the lemon law, then you could start your miles over again? Otherwise what you said makes sense. I'd find a way to get it off the ground and take a long slow look, especially since you said you could wash it and make it go away.
Salt spray in one hand, fresh water in the other, and a girlfriend that can see in the drivers seat.

I've really grown attached to this jeep and would rather not lemon law it but I've been leaning that way. Its not a cheap truck to have this much wrong. I didnt drive it this summer so it still be under warranty this winter. I commute about 125 miles a day.
My wife doesnt seem to want me to work on it, she's pissed about the issues and want me to get something else.
I'm giving them another chance then out comes the lawyer card..

Undercoating would seal the metal and maybe the wire harness if it would stick to it. Most likely it would be a temperary repair and would make it harder to find later on, after the warranty is expired. I'd rather it gets fixed right on thier $.
I was thinking about sealing the harness in silicone or something also but thought about it some and figured that be a fix when its my problem down the road.

Well, I might get it back friday, I hope. After a talk with the service advisor They went over the jeep again(also tried to blame the tires agian too) and found a failing wheel speed sensor.. It should be in tomorrow and ok to pick up friday morning. I hope this is the end of this!

What happens when the esp goes off? I have this happen all the time, and am going through buy back. I lose throttle, and sometimes esp/abs applies the brakes on its own. Going through buy back is %$#@! horrible. I hope your dealer can get it fixed.

The esp issue in the snow melt just basically turns off all esp/abs/anti-roll until it resets. I had the issue with the esp coming on on its own before and they blamed a wheel sensor then too. The esp still was too sensitive on cloverleafs, but the last abs recall they did last week seemed to finally fix that issue. If you havent had that done yet get it done,, also make sure your steering wheel is centered,, if its off, even a little the esp will kick on all the time, thinks your going into turns when your not.
Good luck,,

Oh, I pick mine up tomorrow so I'll put it thru the test over the holiday,, we expect snow on xmas eve!

Note:
This light isn't affecting the performance of the Jeep (like it did before when my steering wheel wasn't aligned) It is just the damn light.
So you are saying it is a sensor/ harness?
...That makes sense.
But before I take it in again, I want to have some more information to give them so that they aren't standing around scratching there heads while they hold my Jeep hostage for countless days.
More info needed if anyone has input.
