air bag light

Default air bag light

driving home from work last night my airbag light came on with a ding and stayed on. any ideas on whats going on? 2007 JKS with 79,000 miles.

Mine too (although intermittent) so your thread showed up on my search.

I scanned it with an OBD but it didnt throw any codes nor did clear up the light.

Mine did it (air bag lt) twice a year or two ago. Hasn't done it since. This could be the clockspring. On at least some '07 JKs there is an extension of the factory warranty to 150K miles to cover the clockspring. Check with your dealer and see if covered. Mine, BTW, after doing it twice and going out each time, has never returned.

Most likely your clock spring.
Mine did that same thing recently and they fixed it for free at the dealership. And your 07 should be covered under the 10 yr/150000 mile warranty for the clockspring.
I had a similar problem a few years ago and it was the same issue.
Now I am hoping it does not fail again.

clockspring - if the interior gets wet (top, doors off etc.) you will replace again and again
