Has your steering wheel seen moisture recently? Usually the light is indicative of a clockspring gone south.

Could also be an occupant sensor in one of the seats. Or something messing with the connections for the seat belts or the connections under the seat. Or the clock spring.

Unplug and plug back would tell you if there was dirt in the connection but it seems like the clockspring is more likely. The clockspring is over $100 (I don't recall the exact price) and it's not terrible to replace, you've just got to follow the directions. There is a member here who did a writeup on the replacement.

I've not replaced my own yet.

It's what routes all of the wiring to the stalks, buttons, etc on the steering wheel. I haven't changed one (yet). But, my airbag light came on a couple times about a year ago. Hasn't done it since. I'm one of the "lucky" ones who has the 150K/10 mile warranty on the clockspring (owners of some 2007s who received letters to that effect). Of course, I have over 131K miles at this point. LOL.

A low voltage or cca could throw the light, had it happen in a few cars
