Default Alternative to Stock Hub Bolts

Has anyone come across an alternative to the stock hub bolts?

he pitch and size to factory hub bolts seem to be very specific and the heads snap easy as I recently discovered...

The heads shouldn't snap easily unless you've got corrosion or applied too much torque. I don't think you'll find many people seeking out alternatives as they're cheap and as you noted, the head must be low profile and 12pt for applying torque without excess slipping (using a 12pt socket on a hex head).

$15 for 3 bolts on eBay, sorry to hear that you had a bolt snap on you. I'd be curious to see where and how it snapped.

Corrosion was the primary culprit. Soaked in PB blaster, and heated them and even then they were a pita. Didn't even use a breaker bar or handle extension, just a ratchet and was very deliberate to avoid snapping. Was only able to successfully unseat 2/3 bolts off driver and passenger hubs/knuckles.

To answer your question, the head snapped clean off the unsuccessful bolts. I barely applied torque too. I was very surprised by how easy the head snapped, why Im seeking an alternative but seemingly there is non. Tried drilling it out, but after 3 drill bits it wasn't gonna happen. Resulted in having to cut the hubs off the knuckle. Ended up just getting new Rancho high steer knuckles since I already have an AEV high steer kit.

I have to confess however, that its all original parts. Bought the Jeep with 17km on the odo and now there's 150000km worth with a lot of trail km's.

Ignorance and neglect would be the other culprit :P

Suffice to say, rebuilding the entire front axle;
-Rancho high steer knuckles
-MOOG HD hubs
-MOOG HD u-joints
-Mountain Goat HD greasable drag link
-Mountain Goat HD greasable tie rod
-MevoTech upper and lower HD ball joints
-Ten Factory 4320 Chromoly shafts
