In my old Beetle I used to take my foot off the gas and the semi's would pull me. I could have shut it off and got no gas mileage...Of course I would need to be going to the same place.

I also used to play the MPG gauge in my TT. On the way to Vegas from LA, there is a very long hill. I decided I would win whatever number showed up...I hit 800mgp before I had to hit the gas pedal again. It worked. I won...Haven't since...

What would scare me most is running over some debris on the road you don't see coming.

That being said, I drafted my friends camper once for 2 hours. We were going slow cause he couldn't maintain speed on hills. Got 23mpg as I recall.

it was found that drafting a semi DOES increase gas mileage BUT you're too close and poses a danger of rearending a semi.
Not to mention it's an awesome way to catch a frickin' rock in the windshield. Stay as far away from those semis as you can. You also never know when they are going to have a blowout with those retreads they run. A friend of mine is a respiratory therapist that had a person come in the ER that died from semi truck tire tread coming through the windshield (or window, I don't remember which now) and hitting them. Not to mention, it would do beaucoup damage to your jeep if you got hit with some tread.

Those 18 wheelers are dangerous. Drive defensively around them.
