No it doesn't hurt it. I would not reccomend doing that in a dusty 4wd (or 2wd) scenario. You wouldn't want to clog the fan coil with dust. Can get really nasty in there with the condensate mixing with contaminants.
By the way my JK is at Alberic, will get it tomorrow.

When are we going wheeling
As for the dust - we've had much and have blown several vents / intakes out with compressed air upon the return home!
So far - so good - we need one of those "fingers-crossed" smileys!

Pretty sure ours is on 95+% of the time. Been that way since March 26th - I'll let you know.

WOW I thought Puerto Rico was hot .. no wonder you have the a/c on 95 % of the time .....
Thanks for your help .. I am going to keep driving with the top down and the air in full blast its 96 here today but it feels like 110
I only mentioned the dust thing because I used to tune up residential units a long time ago. Some of the coils would get dirty enough to restrict airflow. Once the airflow got slow enough on the evaporator coils, they would freeze the condensation. that would snowball ontill the whole thing ws a block of ice. Which surprizingly doesn't cool that well. Most of them that were that bad usally envolved pet hair. Sometimes though there would be ones that appeared to be moldy.
I've never bothered to check any of my own vehicles, but it seems reasonable that they would get contaminated much faster on convertables. I hope we have fresh air filters on these things. Anyone with a service manual know where it's located?
