Default Another TPMS question...

I just purchased a set of 5 OEM 17" Aluminum Wheel from a guy who took them off his 4 door Wrangler Sport. He removed the TPMS Sensors and installed them in his new aftermarket wheels.

I want to remove the 5 16" OEM steel wheels and replace them with the OEM Aluminum wheels. Can I remove the TPMS Sensors from my OEM 16" steel wheels and install them in the OEM 17" aluminum wheels? The guy at the tire shop I'm going to wasn't sure. Thanks...

Paul

The sensors should fit. I had the factory steel wheels on my first jk and had them installed in aluminum wheels with no problems.

Thanks! Was there any requirement to relearn the sensor positions once the aluminum wheels were installed back on your Jeep? I.e. should I instruct the tire shop to ensure if a TPMS came out of the front driver's side wheel, it needs to be mounted in the same position after the swap? Thanks...

Well, the TPMS light is on, the little Mom & Pop shop I went to didn't have the tool to reset the sensors. The Manual says it should reset after driving for 20 minutes. We were surprised the light did come on because he was careful to do one tire at a time, so each sensor ended up back in its original position. I guess technically they did sense low pressure because they had to break the bead on each trie to remove the sensor and install them again.

Sorry to post on an old thread, but I cant find any other ones on this topic.

Did the TPMS sensor reset on its own? I am planning on doing similar on my new 2013 Sport. I want to swap the steelies with the OEM 2013 Rubi set.

Yep, after airing up the spare and driving about a mile, the sensor went out and has not come back on!
