Default Anyone added AC to a non ac jeep?

Found a good deal on a nice 2dr JK for my daughter, but it doesn't have AC. Not a deal breaker, but would be interested to know the cost incurred to add Ac if anyone has done so? Lemme know, thanks!!

Sounds like too much trouble if you ask me. Compressor, brackets, lines, condenser, controls, wiring harness.....

If I had to guess I bet you are looking at few thousand dollars in parts and labor.

IMHO, adding AC would be more trouble then it's worth. Keep in mind that while it's a good deal now, it's going to cost you when you sell. These days a lack of AC can really hurt resale. I know I would never even consider a vehicle with no AC.

Yea, I just did a search on, didn't know my phone app had a search function!! Anyhow, looks like it costs about 4k to do, with around 2500 in parts alone!!

Wow, I didn't even realize they made vehicles without ac any more. I guess it would be ok in a cold climate

Way too expensive. If it's not a deal breaker just make sure the price you pay reflects it.

Strange I thought all Jeeps had removable tops??

Seriously though on average I get 14mpg...nothing worse..nothing better...without AC on..something else to consider.

I would say 98% of women don't like it when their hair gets messed up EVERYDAY on their way to class or work because the top is off. Also, you are in NY and she would be in Virginia where it is extremely humid and hot.

I would suggest finding the gal a 2dr with A/C.

I installed AC on my 97 TJ by myself. Jeep was selling a kit for $1200-$1500 or so (I can't recall). Just had to take it to an AC shop to get charged. I was in college at the time, and the shop was so impressed I installed it myself they offered me a job. It took me a full day, including basically removing the entire dash.

After thinking further on it, it's not that good of a deal for no Ac. I've had 4 wranglers, and the top down is nice and all, but these WV summers can get hot and insanely muggy. I won't be the one driving it, but I know my daughter wouldn't be too happy when it gets hot!
