Default Anyone running 285/75/70 Tires?

Looking to get new wheels and tires for my ON ORDER JKURX. I have Black Pintlers ordered... My plan was to go with 285/70/17's as recommended by many on this forum.

What's the difference between 285/70's and 285/75's.

Sorry for the newb question... Just wanna get the best look and stance.

ALSO what lift or leveling kit would be recommended with this tire/wheel setup.

Im running 285/70/17. I dont know what the difference between 70 and 75 is though. maybe 75 is wider? I have the stock suspension and I dont have have any issues with rubbing and I have a winch and a heavier bumper than stock on the front. You might have to trim the front factory plastic skid plate a little though.

75's are taller by just over an inch. slightly narrower tho by .2 inches. 75's look considerably bigger when side by side.
75's are considered 34" tires and 70's are considered 33" actual is 33.9 and 32.8

Interesting... I'm looking for taller NOT necessarily wider. I'm probably the minority here. I would like the wheels to stay Unser the fenders as much as possible.

285 = tire width or tread patch in mm. 70 or 75 is for tire sidewall height and tells you the % of that width in tire wall. So a 70 series tire means the side wall of the tire is 70% of the width in mm. And of course the 17 is the wheel diameter. These measurements are for the tire before it is mounted and on the vehicle.

No problem. That one took me quite a while to find out, figured I would try to save you some searching. There is a really good app for comparing tires sizes. I think it was free. If not it was only a couple I bucks, but it is just called "Tire Upgrade." super simple and very helpful.

Happy Jeeping!

Not sure what the forum rules are about posting about phone apps, but hope I'm not violating them.

I would get the 285/75r17 (34s) over the 285/70r17 (33s). They are both the same width. I am with you though and don't like really wide tires.

Here is what the 285/70r17 looks on stock suspension

Here is 285/70r17 with 2.5" lift.

I want to get a set of 285/75r17 but the tire I want is out of stock. I think the 2.5" lift with 34s is an awesome look and my wheel backspace keeps the tire tread just under the stock fenders.

Nice Look. I'm really leaning towards The 285/75 size. Not sure about lift. I will be running AEV Pintlers so the back spacing should be good. Probably Duratracs or BFG AT
