Auto tranny temperature range
I saw several threads about adding an aux cooler for the auto tranny and thinking about it.
What is the normal temperature range Jeep recommends for stock Sahara? Does it vary per trim (X, Rubicon)?
Thanks!

I understand most folks recommend the B&M. I recently saw a thread about the Mopar but does seem to do the something as B&M.

The hotter it runs, the shorter the life of the ATF. There are graphs showing the relationship.
It was 65 here yesterday, I drove about 25 miles on the highway at about 75mph; my gauge was in the 130s. I have the B&M 13000btu cooler.

My normal transmission temp is from 110°F to around 150°F, on roads, summer and winter.
When wheeling in the summer, it will go as high as 180, at which point I will take steps to get it back down.
No aux cooler on mine yet. I keep putting it off because I haven't seen the need yet.

I just installed the Bully Dog tuner and set it to display the tranny coolant's temp, which it reads from the OBD port.
Tranny temperature has been between 160 and 180F.
Jeep is stock and temperature here in Seattle in the high 50s now. Therefore, I can only imagine when it goes to upper 70s in Summer. Let alone if I travel to a place that goes above 100F. :-/
So, it seems a cooler is in order, or there's something I should check before?

Based on the responses it is high. So, would a cooler hold it if I decide to go wheeling and really put a load on it?
