Default auto trans reverse problem

HI maybe somone can help me. jeep is modified but tranny isnt so im posting this here.

I seem to have a reverse problem.
I have an 07 2 door auto trans.

time 1

flat surface shifted to reverse took a while maybe 4 sec to go into reverse it popped (when i say popped just mean it shifted no weird noise or anything) and was on my way.

last night (2 weeks later)

on a hill put it in reverse rolled fwd maybe 15 feet fwd till it finally went in then everything was fine.

normal driving seems to shift up and down as it always has.

First thing to check is fluid level when it's warmed up, in park, engine idling.

Has the transmission ever been serviced? How many miles on it?
How does the fluid look and smell?
Have you checked for codes?

41000 miles
Haven't looked at levels in a couple months (will do so this weekend)
No codes unless just not posted a check engine( will also check this weekend)

Thanks for the input thought might be something common.
