Default Auto trans wont engage???

This has occured a couple of times now. After a failed attempt at an obstacle (like climbing a ledge) I try to revearse and it wont engage. Its like every position of the shifter is neutral! After trying every position from Park to up and down the D thru first (2012 5 speed) a few times and a bit of swearing it FINALLY re-engages and I get to try again.

It has only happened twice in 5 off road outings but both times at very frustrating times.

Anyone else run into this? It works fine after. No noise, grinding or anything else unusual.

It sounds more like your transfer case is getting stuck in neutral.

Only if he is using his transfer case I.e. 4Hi or low, but even then I don't think the transfer case would play a role in that... Sounds more like a transmission problem... Take it to the dealer and let them troubleshoot it under warranty...

Sounds like a bug with the new trans... One member has already had a tranny replaced on a 12

Sorry I didn't specify but both times I was in 4 Lo. Never touched transfer case shifter but finally got it to engage.
I'll have the dealer check it out at first oil change.
