Yep checked the fluid in the dipstick... Level was fine.

Dropped the pan... It's burnt, smells real bad! Interestingly enough, the fluid on the dipstick did not seem too bad vs. what was in the pan...

Shopping for a transmission now...

75000 miles
I had the unit services at the first interval by dealer, then serviced again when the solenoid was leaking and warped. I would have to research the milage. Why?

Post Cause and Effect

If the current failure can be tied to the "Leaking and warped" solenoid, replaced by the dealer, then the repair is on them, as the solenoid failure was the root cause. By "them", I mean Chrysler, especially if there are TSBs related to this. You might be able to show a pattern through info on this website.. Good Luck!

Default Driving me nuts

Going crazy a bit with my power train still. Maybe you can help?

So I got a new transmission installed. It was from a jeep that had 21 miles on it. The shop that installed it said it was running really rough and had the dealer down the street flash the computer and they had it running good.

Well now I have some concerns.

I have what feels like a slip in the transmission at about 1250 rpms when in 4 gear cruising about 50 mph. This could also be maybe a miss fire or something? I would describe it as a quick shudder. Maybe two or three in a row? Think ths might be a spark plug fowling?

Also, I finally got under the jeep to check out the work. Looks like the new transmission. Did not have the same bolt pattern on the housing to which it mounted? This normal? There has only been one auto offered for 2007 wrangler rub icons?

One last thing. I picked up my boat from storage today drove about 6 hours was backing in the driveway and this new tranny was slipping a ton as I backed it in. This can not be normal right? It was like chattering as I reved it up to get my boat in the driveway.

Thoughts? This really has me frustrated!

Just wondering if you ever resolved your issue? I have a 2009 JK 140k that seems to be slipping at 50mph +/- and 1500rpm+/-. Also a bit of shuttering when backing up. Thanks for any thoughts on this.

Also dropped the pan last night changed fluid and filter. Transmission fluid was burnt and had a bad smell. Also both cooler lines are leaking at the crimps, heard there was a recall on them, but Chrysler says it hasn't been issued yet.

Are you the original owner?
The pre-2012 Automatics need an aux transmission cooler.
The cooler lines were the subject of an extended warranty, (7 years/70,000 miles), but no recall.
How is it with the new fluid? You may have to change it a again to get more of the old fluid out.

"Slipping" at the speed and rpm you mentioned may be the torque converter unlocking, or the transmission downshifting. Not much power being made at 1500 rpm.

I
Work for a transmission shop. If fluid is burnt that means the tranny is done and has to come out. It burns because the fluid overheats and burns the clutches
