Default Auto Transmission temp gauge

Today I installed a 2 channel digital temp gauge. I got the gauge and sending/sensor from eBay, Sure Electronics (China) for about $20. I ordered the 3 meter cord sensor since the one supplied is only 1 meter. I attached the sensor to the end of the transmission dipstick using a copper electrical wire clamp with shrink wrap over it. I then secured it with thin wire through one of the dipstick holes. This should prevent anything from coming loose and falling into the transmission. I then ran the wire to the gauge. It came out pretty well. Not an Aeroforce but at least I can monitor the temp. It has been in the 60's here and after driving for 30-45 min the temp gets to 135F. We'll see what happens when it gets hot and after driving for extended periods. Not sure if I'll use channel 2. It can be set to switch back and forth but I didn't like that feature. The display dims in low light automatically and comes in the blue (pictured) and red.

That looks like a good, inexpensive, and easy way to get transmission sump temperature.
I'm sure others will want more information on getting one.

Next time you come to the Bangor area, I'll do a Quality Assurance Evaluation on the install for you.

Well we've had some high 90's here and the temp never went above 162 during normal driving for an hour on back roads with stop and go. No real off road test to get the temps up to where "hot oil" might show on the dash. At what temp does that warning show?
