That sounds like low ATF. Have you checked the level? (while hot)

45000 miles and transmission failure. Waiting for my warranty inspector to go out and approve the fix. Fingers crossed

Sounds like an apply piston or servo is shot. Could also be issues with the valve body being clogged. Even the smallest contaminate that clogs or stops a valve can cause issues. I would get someone who knows their stuff to pull the pan and give the valve body a good once over and go ahead and replace small parts.

2014 JKUR won't 2-3 upshift sometimes unless I let almost all the way off the gas. Its better when warmed up & worse when cold. :-(

Reviving this old thread as I don't feel it necessary to start a new one. My 2008 JKU with the 42RLE acts up sometimes. I noticed the car lot I purchased it form did a flush and filter change which might be part of it. I tried a couple of methods to reset the transmission via disconnecting the battery and draining all power from the system but it hasn't helped.

It seems common but wondering if there's anything to worry about as most threads just die off. My shifts from 2nd to 1st are often jarring with a loud clunk. It happens mostly while slowly decelerating in city driving. Same thing the other direction if I'm just slowly mall crawling, it'll decide to shift from 1st to 2nd with a loud clunk and you can really feel it hit into the gear. Now if I'm accelerating any more than minimal throttle it shifts nice and smooth, and if I'm braking decently hard it downshifts smoothly as well.

From what I've seen I might as well let it ride, but wondering if anyone had any other advice.
