Smile Autp trans rolling

On a few occasions I have notice that my new JK is rolling backwards on slight inclines with my foot off the brake. I do mean slight, not a 45 degree angle.

Is anyone else having this issue? What is the fix?

Thx

Put your foot on the brake.

I have experienced it...the jk does not have a lock up in the converter. as previously mentioned....that is what the brake is for

This is a known phenomenon with the Jeep auto transmission. My Liberty does the same thing.

Don't worry, I use the brake. But when the light turns green you tend to remove your foot from the brake to move it to the 'go' pedal. This is when it rolls back, almost like a manual would do with a poor driver.

If the lack of a lockup t.c. is the reason that might make sense. I just wanted to verify that this was normal operation for this box of steel.

My Explorer did the same thing, so I never even noticed it on the JK. Seems normal to me.

Hmm. Mine holds it's own pretty well on inclines. I'll start paying attention to where it starts backing up on me.

You may have a lockup that occurs only at speed. For example, I believe the autos used on the Liberty lock up at around 62mph.
