Default Aux tanks?

I'm thinking about rear bumper that carries two 5 gallon jerry cans, but maybe there's enough space under the JK to add a 10-15 ga aux tank? This possible? If so does somebody make an aux tank for the JK or is this a lame idea?

Gen-Right makes a 20 gal one for the JK.
You have to relocate your muffler and lose your rear storage cubby.

Many aux tanks are for diesel fuel only. ( not just for the JK but for most vehicles ). Just make sure the tank you purchase is for the fuel your vehicle uses.

Not arguing with you, but how does it matter what fuel you put in the tank? I would think you could us whatever the vehicle calls for.

If you get hit from behind and the fuel tanks rupture, gasoline may explode while diesel is only going to horribly burn you alive.

Seriously, gasoline has a pretty high vapor pressure, and the vapors are explosive and very easily ignited. In a gasoline engine this vapor mixture explodes and drives the car when ignited by a tiny spark. So you really want to be careful with huge amounts of gasoline on a vehicle. If the fuel tank (or one of the tanks) ruptures the vapors can build up and be ignited by a small flame or spark. Diesel has a pretty low vapor pressure, so even if it does get spilled the vapors are not going to be building up in the surrounding air. And even if they do build up to a significant degree the flash point of diesel is WAY higher than that of gasoline. Gasoline can catch fire from a flame at -45*. Diesel needs to be over 143*.

Mainly it is just safer to have a large amount of diesel than a large amount of gasoline.

To answer your question, NO it is not a lame idea. As 2 door JK owner we had no options but jerry cans. The aussy aux tank is only for 4 doors. The genrite looks awesome but $1,300, fab work, fuel pump, relocating muffler and evap canistor you are looking at over $2,000. Jerry cans are looking a lot better but at least we have an option now. Maybe someone on here will go the genrite route and post up pics and feedback
