Default Backspacing

Can anyone tell me what the backspacing is on my
2007 Wrangler Sahara Unlimited 4dr?
Tried to order soft 8's from Summit and didn't know.
TIA Craig.

Go read this thread......it will help a lot: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...74&postcount=3

I think you are asking 2 questions though.....you don't need to duplicate the exact back spacing of your factory wheels (unless you are asking about the Helo wheels in your sig line....then I'm not following you) on your new ones.....there are advantages to having less back spacing. Read the thread and let us know if you have another question.

Guy at summit said he has to know in order to
know if the rims I order are right.
Am putting BFG 255/75R17'S on the Cragers.
Thought I could order the 5x5 pattern 17's and all would be good.
Do I have to pull the tire to determine backspace or?????
Craig.

Guess you didn't even look at the "Wheels & Tires" FAQ he linked?

Let me help you, here are a few excerpts from that link...

and/or are still running factory wheels which have 6.25" of back spacing.
Backspacing on all factory wheels is 6.25"
What back spacing will I need on my wheels in order to clear 12.50 wide tires?
A: I would recommend that you do not exceed 4.75" of back spacing and even at that, you may still have some minor rubbing up front at a full turn. Also, I would recommend that you do not go any less than 3.75" as anything less would cause your tires to stick out very far past the fender flares. Any back spacing within this range should work out great.

255/75R17'S are a stock tire size. You can use factory backspacing on the new rims. If you want a wider stance/look, then get something in the range above.

Q: What are all the factory wheels that are available for the JK?
A:Factory wheel type and sizes listed below:

X Standard
Painted Steel - Size 16 x 7.0

X Optional
Painted Cast-Aluminum - Size 16 x 7.0 (2007)
Painted Cast-Aluminum - Size 17 x 7.5 (2008)

Sahara Standard
Painted Cast-Aluminum - Size 17 x 7.5

Sahara Optional
Painted Cast-Aluminum - Size 18 x 7.5

Rubicon Standard
Machined Cast-Aluminum - Size 17 x 7.5

Backspacing on all factory wheels is 6.25"
Guess the FAQ should be re-written to make it clearer. Yes, your stock rims have a backspace of 6.25". If you want the new rims/tires to have the stock look, being pushed back in the fenders, then that is the backspace you want. If you would like the tires to stick out a little more, to have a 'wider stance' look, then get rims with a lower backspacing.

Plus, it'll sit wider and look better with the less bs.

So in the end, did you find your rims? ...and how much did they cost? I actually have a set of Spidertrax Spacers but am considering switching to a set of Soft-8's. I guess in my case, that would be 17x7.5x4.75bs (for the stock Rubi tires).....if I understand everyone correctly.

BFG's recommended rim width range for that tire 6.5 - 8.5. If you are buying aftermarket rims, my opinion would be to go wider so you won't have a problem upgrading to a wider tire later if you choose.
