Default Bad roof leak.....

Well I had the small leak, right onto the drivers door handle. Wasn't too bad but really annoying plus the front of the soft top looks like it's peeling up, catching wind and making more noise and leaking fairly good when I wash it causing it to drip down onto the center stack and shifter.

So I decided to take it back to the dealer. I called him a couple of days ahead of time and got a reassuring "we'll make it right". Took it in yesterday morning. Got there about 10, left at about 2. They said they put some more sealant, black caulk looking stuff behind the weather stripping is what it looked like to me.

Yesterday was nice weather. They said the ran it under some water. I noticed when they brought it back around there was water inside but I figured it was due to opening the door and having it run in. They obviously dried it out well before bringing it around.

So today we have some rain start up about 2, light drizzle. About 4 I decided to go to the store, it was raining light but steady by then. I open the door and find it was not dripping in, but running in, and had been for a while. The seat was soaked, there was now water on the instrument panel, all over the steering wheel and standing in the floor.

I grab the phone and put in a call to my dealer, he was with a customer. An hour later, he's still with a customer. I'm still waiting to hear back from him.

Also a strange thing happened while I was there. One of the times I went out in the shop to see what was going on, one of the employees who seemed to have the job of holding up a particular beam on the side of the shop started talking to me. I told him what I was in there for and he proceeded to tell me that the owner used to have a policy that if it had t-tops or a convertible top he would not sell it unless he gave a guarantee that it "would leak into your lap with your best Sunday clothes" , and proceeded to also tell me how funny he thought it was when someone bought a jeep and brought it back for leaks.

I didn't stick around much longer and visit with that guy, I did tell him I didn't think it was too funny, and that I'd just got rid of a 13 yr old jeep with a soft top that didn't leak.

I really regret taking it in. I should have used some of the good info I've found here and on some of the other jeep sites to fix it myself. I hate dealing with dealerships, especially the service departments. I've never had a pleasant experience with them, and I'm a pretty easy person to please. So just a warning, if you can go out of your way and fix it yourself, even though it's the principle of the matter to have the dealer fix it, you might want to just grit your teeth and do it yourself. I sure wish I would have.

Sorry to hear about that. I have a similar situation. Try another dealer. That one sounds worthless.
