I have had excellent performance from my Optima Yellowtop 34/78, though I have heard mixed reviews on them. The Odyssey/Diehard Platinums come highly recommended, and should I ever have issues with Optima I will switch to them.

Both the Odyssey and DieHard Platinum are made by EnerSys, have the same specs, however the Diehard Platinum has a better warranty and a lower cost.

Say, when is the last time one of the magazines and/or a reputable source did a review of the off-road battery choices?

Seems like a technical review would be a good read. At least for an EE.

Overland Journal just reviewed them last year. Sitting at Denny's having Brkfst so cannot quote, but they liked the Sears Platinum. Also liked Optimus for special.design to survive off-road travel.
