Mine died after 3 years and 2 months. I went to Sears to buy the new Sears Platinum P4 and I was told they don't make the P4 anymore and they did not have any Marine one in stock either so I got frustrated and went to Walmart and purchased the 84 dollar one for now.....

The wifes 07 Unlimited bought in Oct 06 gave up the ghost in Aug 2010.
Having had 2 Optima R/T's in my 94 XJ for the past 15 years, first one lasted 9 years, second one that was drained down twice to nothing last year is still going strong.
That said, I've seen where the Optima's have not been living up to the expectations of many within the last two years or so. Maybe the closing of the only US factory and moving the production to Cienega de Flores, Mexico back in Jan 09 is just coincedential, maybe not. At any rate since the battery still costs as much as it did when manufactured in the United States, I just could not bring myself to purchase an Optima, and could not take the chance of having one fail in the wifes JK.
Since Sears has signed the contract with EnerSys, the company that has been making the Odyssey Batery for years, and is now making the DieHard Platinum, at the same specifications as the Odyssey at a lower cost and better warranty, it was a "No Brainer" what battery to purchase.

The P4 group 34/78 = P1 group 34, except for the dual terminals. I don't trust side terminals for heavy loads like starters or winches, so that feature isn't important to me. Do you really need the side terminals?

Mine was still fine at 12months, when I pulled it out to make room for dual Odyssey's. I sold it to a co-worker for $40.
I didn't want to end up killing my battery with aux lights and winch, then not be able to start it!

Default had a crack

My '07 went 42K then it was dead as a door nail. Found a crack in the case when I replaced it. My wife's '04 Pilot is rocking the original battery at 100K. The jeep has a red top now.

My Jeep was about 40 months old when I also replaced it with the diehard platinum. While the motor usually fires up with about 2 revolutions, I thought one cold morning early this winter it seemed to drag a little.

I did not want to risk being stranded in the dead of winter.

After reading up on the Platinum, even with a $200 price tag, it seemed like the thing to do. The CCA and reserve are much better than stock. And it has a 4 year direct replace warranty.

Probably could have got 4 years from the stock battery, half of that time cranking a hemi, which is not too bad.

I bought my JKU with no accessories and it needed a battery at 34,000 miles.
