What are your thoughts?
Curious to know, which year Jeep JK or Unlimited production years ran with the least issues, had the best quality parts and had the best overall satisfaction.
Yes it's a Jeep thing and they're all awesome but let me hear it.
Thanks guys,
Midnight

Countdown
I have owned three JKUs, here's my analysis:
2008 - Not so good, very weak 3.8 engine - not up to the task. (Had to have gas tank replaced & Electronic Quick Discos never worked and had to install manual QDs)
2012 - Good. First year of the 3.6 engine. My first auto tranny, ever. (No mechanical problems)
2015 - The best so far. My first Rubicon. Much better than I expected. (No mechanical problems)

So Far So Good
Bought my first jeep ever after a '93 Pathfinder and an '08 Titan. Hours of research looking for off road performance and reasonable price led me to a manual shift '15 JK-U Sport Soft Top that has given me absolutely ZERO issues in 9200 miles. Before this the last Jeep I drove belonged to the US Army (Willys). I'll take the JK-U!

It's easy to confuse an individual's experience with their vehicle, with overall model year performance. As a generalization, the further in a model is, the more time engineers have to review feedback, small and large scale issues, and make adjustments. The caveat is when there is a large scale change such as when jeep went from the 3.8 to the 3.6, the first year they had freedom tops....etc. if you read on the major changes from year to year, as well as major recalls with each model year, you can figure what is an exposure or something resolved in subsequent years.

is it me or did they
btw to thread question . my 2012 had issues in the start but seemed to get better so far . hope it stays this way its almost 4 years old now .
i still wish the factory would do a better under coat to prevent rust issues
its awful how fast these jeeps rust out underneath . I will say this no leaks in my soft top on mine. The 2011 i had leaked at the seams till i traded it in for the rubicon. So i cant complain much now on my 12 but i still only have 32,000 on it so far

I think the best pre-refresh was 09, I remember when going to the service dept (alot since my 08 was a lemon).. there were always lots of 07 and 08 JKU's in for repairs usually electrical...
my 09 had No issues, and when I would bring it for normal service intervals.. it was always 07s and 08s in and hardly any 09s..
in '10 I switched to 2 doors and even then in for service very few 09 or 10 JKU's although the 10s experienced air and water leaks with the newer stye cable top and the front top header going from metal to a plastic of sorts.. so it caused 10s to be observed in the shop more..
POST refresh id say 13 and up.. 12s were plagued with Cylinder head issues... I have heard of more electrical issues with 15s than I figured i would.. but in the shop with my current 13 for service intervals its hard to tell the post-refresh model years apart as the appearances didnt change much like they did from 07 to 08 (different wheels, sahara got painted vent rings, radios got phone buttons), 08 to 09 (little nets in the dash and on doors), 09 to 10 (lettering on outside changed from X to "sport).. 10 to 11 (new dash).. 11 to 12 (different exhaust)... 12 to 13 to 14 tough to tell which is which when I go to the dealer.. 14 to 15 (tweeters went flat)
just my observations..
