Default Best way to seal soft top

Anyone have any tips on getting the soft top to seal well? I'm talking mainly about where the side panels meet the vertical part of the door frame. I don't have a picture right now, but my driver's side near the top always seems to be too loose and the plastic rod in the panel doesnt get pinched in the door seal and just kinda flaps loose. Unless i'm outside the jeep and can hold the panel in place while I shut the door.

Any one else have issues with this or found a fix?

Are you positive you have the J-channel installed correctly? it sounds like this might be the problem.

Soft Top Rear Window to Door frame surround area installation. _lots of pictures.

Sounds like you are not inserting the J channel in correctly.

Start by zipping the top about 2 inches. Then grab the j channel on the front edge of the window and insert it all the way into the slot on the door frame. You have to fold it over to get it all the way in. Start at the bottom and work your way to the top. Then with one hand hold it in the slot and with the other zip the window closed. Then insert the bottom tab into the slot on the body.

Took me a few times to figure this out.

Yeah, Allot of folks think that the rear door will hold the window in place, that is not the case. You have to make sure the plastic tab tucks into place to stay put.

I have seem many JK's on the road with the rear windows flapping in the wind, If they would stop, i'd show them how.

yep...that picture thread helped a lot. I wasnt inserting that j-channel correctly, just relying on the shut door to hold it in. Thanks a lot!

I am glad it helped you .

It is very common for people to miss that step. I have shown several people at work and around locally how to do that as well, they always look a little sheepish/embarassed but they really shouldnt, everyone had to learn sometime & I am glad to help!

It is little things like this that make me happy i was chosen as a moderator here, I get a kick out of helping people out
