Question Bigger tires and Transmission

Will having bigger tires affect the transmission because of faulty speedometer readings or does it react to the rpms.

It depends how big you go and which gearing you have. Larger tires will affect your warranty if you break an axle or something. If your gearing is not correct say 35's with 410 gears you shouldn't use your overdrive unless you are cruising on flat freeways. You dont want to be running around at 1500 rpms or you will put more wear on your transmission giving them a valid claim. That one is probably gonna' get a different answer from dealer to dealer.

Thanks for the info.....have 410 ratio planning to put in 32 inch tires I know that will affect the speedo but should I worry about anything else. I have a X model that came with the small wheels.

Bigger tires will affect your speedo reading. I found that out the hard way...you have to reset for the bigger tires.

You can get your spedo adjusted for 32" tires from the dealer and everything will read correctly. They will not have any adverse effects on your tranny/overdrive.
