Recently purchased a 2010 with some chrome nerf bars that I'm going to remove. The brackets are mounted using the bolts for the body mount. There are four inch square plates above the mounting brackets for the bars. From top to bottom. BODY, SQUARE PLATE, BRACKET.

Is the square plate factory, or did it come with nerf bars?

The plate must be added not factory, I've done a body lift on mine so I got a good look at this if I'm understanding you correct . It should just be a big bolt with a washer on it , threading into the body!!
