Default Bottom of dash tower

Anyone know what is behind the plastic wall below the last Bank of switches and power outlets? I am wondering if that could cut out and modified to fit a pocket in its place. Would make for a good storage area. Don't have my jeep in hand yet so can't experiment yet. Sorry if I have this posted in the wrong area.

I was thinking the same exact thing yesterday, but I don't have my Jeep yet either. I'd like to know the same thing.

Here ya go, here some pictures of it. The cover sits flush up against all the junk that is back there so there isnt really any room for that. I wanted to do the same thing, but it looks like we are out of luck.

I need to get me a service manual.... Thanks for posting that.

I use to have an Izusu VehiCross (actually still do) I ended up putting a Sony Explode into it and pulling out the six cd changer that was in that exact location. Anyway my friend who worked for an installer gave me a pocket that was only 2.5" deep was perfect for small things like sunglasses etc... I was thinking sort of the same thing here

There's very minimal room behind that cover. I had to use some 90 degree quick disconnects to even install a rocker switch. Having the wires stick straight off the tabs wouldn't let the panel sit flush.

That is crazy... It's such a big empty space... at least on the outside... I wish there was at least a few inches hidden behind there.

Maybe you could put some LEDs there to illuminate the center console. My girlfriend's Mazda 3 has that (powder blue LED) and it's like a little map light. It looks REALLY cool and adds ambience to the interior.
