brake bleed question

why do you bleed your brakes with the power off? woudln't you get better pressure on the cylinder with power?

I believe that the brakes work the same with the power on and off

we were installing some crown brake lines and bob(thanks bob) and i did a little head scratching about the power/no power question..

It makes sense that if your towing the jeep the brakes still work 100%

HUUMMMMM:

As far as I remember, I thought there was always a reserve amount of vaccum from the brake booster and system in general, usually after the 3 full pumps of the brake pedal, the pedal becomes very stiff. " Enough to get you to stop in the event of an engine / power failure" I had This same question was in my mind as well. Anyone else that can add their knowledge, would be helpful on this subject.

If you manually bleed the brakes with power assist (Vacuum built up), you will never get the solid pedal which indicates all the air is removed from the system.
