hey folks, my 2012 Unlimited Sahara just started making a noise I have not heard before. When I get into it in the morning and start it, when I hit the brakes to shift out of P, there is a loud click in the shifter area. It clicks again when I release, and as I drive I can hear it again. Once I am in D, this click does not happen. Only when I am in P. Very bizarre. I appreciate any help you can give me.

 

Its normal. From another forum "it's the shift interlock disengaging". Basically, a mechanical lever that only allows you to move out of park when the brake is pressed.
