How does the filter stay in, because it looks like the original is possibly bolted in on the side???

staying in place is not a problem as long as you keep the rubber side down (your vehicle, that is!). it is almost as if Jeep made the dimensions exactly for this filter. i do have one friend that decided to put some silicon on the filter to hold it in place but that is not necessary.

I picked up a filter today for the install tomorrow I may add a little foam to the rubber seal for a better seal.
Kragen/Oriley stocked it, AutoZone did not

Well, whether you have the model that comes with the filters or not, after 6 months or so you're going to have to buy them anyway. So really, if you have a Sport model that doesn't come with the filters, all you've lost is $12 bucks for that first set of filters.

I picked some up from the dealership and popped them in. Hopefully it'll also help a little with my allergy symptoms in our Fall pollen season here.

Yep, noticed this when swapping the glovebox out. In 2011 there are 2 small filters in there and the grate snaps off for easy removal.
