Question Caliper Bracket Rubbing on Rotor

I got this issue of the left rear caliper bracket rubbing on the rotor. It just started and my son parked it right away. Once I got home to look at it, nothing seems out of place and the axle is secured in. I tried to move it back and forth with the bracket removed and it doesn't have any play. Only thing I've done is replace the seals and bearings on both sides in the rear as the passenger side had a leak. It's been driving fine ever since up until yesterday. I got home and it was dark so I just looked around with a flash light. Couldn't really see anything out of place. Any ideas?

Perhaps. We lost a caliper bolt along the TransAmerica Trail a couple years back. Ended up fashioning a stud out of a piece of wood laying on the ground so we could get over the 7,000 foot pass into some small town in nowhere Idaho. You can see that on this video, along with what happened, the rubbing we found, and the missing caliper bolt hole. Check if it matches what you're experiencing ...

that was a cool video but that's not what I'm experiencing this go round, although that did happen about 3 months ago to this same jeep. Lost the same bolt on the same wheel you did in the video. Wound up getting a new one and using a little thread lock on it.

Got a few pictures from different angles? It is terribly hard to envision seals and bearings moving out of place on an axle shaft. that doesn't just happen. Though, it's also hard to think about a rotor contacting that bracket as well. would be interested to see pics from various angles. I guess the more likely thing is axle flange is bent bad. since rotor is secured or axle shaft flange, that bend is exponential the further out it gets.

Was able to get home with daylight today. You can see where the bracket is rubbing. I would think if the bearings slipped, it would wiggle in and out but its got no movement.

Bearing and retainer slipped. Wound up removing the axle and saw the gap. Pressed it back in and now it sits right. As much pressure used to press in I have no idea how it worked its way off. We'll see how long it stays put this time.

Wow. Not that I have seen it all or anything, cuz I haven't, but I can't recall seeing that happen before. Thank you for following up. Will have to keep this one logged in memory for future reference.

This is my first Jeep and I've learned how to make repairs searching on this site. I searched and searched on this and couldn't find anything or anyone having the same thing happen. I would have lost money on it being a slipped bearing. I consider this my contribution to the site.
