Default Camping out in the Jeep

Hey everybody. I got a big favor to ask. I currently cant get to my Jeep for the next 65 days. I'm still in Iraq. What I want to know is what are the Rear Storage dimensions with the back seats folded down flat. LxW. I got the subwoofer in the back so if somebody could measure that to see what it is from the sub to the other fender. I'd really like to know if its possible to fit a twin size air mattress back there with the tailgate closed, or open. Will the subwoofer get in the way or am I just overthinking the whole ordeal. Thanks in advance.

Heh, with a 2dr...I would say put the mattress UNDER the jeep when camping. Especially if you have a lift...youre sure to have enough space.

I put a twin in mine for my boys. There are some gaps on the sides but I fill them will clothes/bags. I tried a Queen but it was far too big IMHO.

While trying to sleep in my 4dr this year hunting, I folded the back seat down and at 6'1" with my feet flat against the tailgate, I had to rest my head ontop of the console, I can't remember the exact measurement length wise but I think it's about 70" tailgate to back of console.....so most twin inflatables I've seen are about 76" in length....just curl up the end for a pillow
...and by the way, I don't think your overthinking the whole ordeal...I wish that AEV had developed their Outpost camper top :

...but looks like it's a no go. The hardtop needs serious beefing up to take the weight....or a suitable roof rack...then there are a ton of other options to mount tents and sleeping areas to the roof, non look as appealing to me as the AEV one though....so if anyones overthinking it...it's me

I have spent several nights sleeping in the back of mine. I was initially using a full size air mattress and it will work if you dont fully inflate it and allow it to inflate around the sub. However, be careful, i was about to use mine one night and when I closed the tailgate part of it got caught in the latch mechanism and puntured a hole. So maybe a twin would be ideal. It also help to slide the front seats fully forward so the rear hedrests can fold all the way down. Also, some beach towels or something similar rolled up and placed in the gap created when you fold the rear seat down helps too. Thanks for your service and come back safe

It 67" to the rear of the cener console and 71" to the rear of the front seats when they are as far forward as possible. The distance between the sub and the drivers wheelwell is 37" and between the wheelwells measures 43".

What I did was, get a 3" foam mattress cut to 43" across and I could have had a couple inches cut off the length as it rolls up a bit as they measure about 73". It does take up more room when rolled up compared to a deflated air mattress but I don't mind at this point as I don't worry about air leaks.

Also what I did was cut a 1/2" piece of plywood to 6" X 43" to fill the void left from the rear seats being folded down. Then the wife and I got a good nights sleep without falling into the gap.

Wishing you a safe return home.
