Stock JK TechBulletin board forum regarding issues with OE (original equipment) components of the Jeep JK Wrangler (Rubicon, Sahara, Unlimited and X) such as factory suspension parts, engine, transmission, body parts, interior fixtures and the on-board computer.
You need to be moving to engague 4wd, I believe on the fly for 4wh up to 50 mph and 5mph or so for 4wl. All in all get you Jeep going about 3-5 mph and then put it in 4wh and you are good to go. Please take the time and read your owners manual about how to go into 4wd
Regards,
You don't have to be moving to put the vehicle in 4Hi.....only 4L... you can be sitting stationary and pop it into 4Hi...something else is wrong or your not being aggressive enough with it...
Seriously guys its like i just have a lever thats not attched to anything, i could move it with my little finger its that easy
I've had 2 issues with 4wd so far. I've had the rig for 5500 miles so far and I've had two problems. One with the 4wd sensor and one with actual shifter. I don't bother asking what the problem is because I don't care and I know it's not from misuse. I do use the Jeep off-road but I don't like the fact that every time I go wheeling I have to have the 4WD fixed. It doesn't seem so amazing that I have a lifetime powertrain warranty anymore. Good luck, I get premium service from my dealer for certain reasons and it took a couple days each time.
