You're talking about just the armrest portion? I can't say I've tried to remove that part separately, but on the back side of the console....above the rear cup holders, that flat panel pops off. You have to finagle your way behind the cover and release the electrical connections for the windows (if you have them) and the tiny light that shines down on the cup holder before you can completely remove the panel. I THINK, that you may find a way to access how the top armrest "lid" attaches from there....but am not positive.

Yep - i’m Just replacing the hinged lid .
Hummm - I didn’t know there was a section of molding at the back of the console, below the lid that snapped off - ‘gonna have to explore this later today.
Referencing a Morpar parts diagram - it looks like the lid and hinge are one, so I think the goal is to get to the place the hinges are attached to the console (hopefully just a couple of screws ...).
Take a thin screwdriver and pry it just a bit.....it will pop off. It uses the same little plastic "v" shape clips to stay in place as the rest of the dash (like on the sides of the dash by the door). Again, the trickiest part is reaching behind it and releasing the electrical connections. I am not 100% certain that is where you'll find the bolts you need access to, but highly suspect that is where they are hidden.

Thanks for pointing me in the (probable) right direction. As mentioned, I had no idea there was a bit of moulding that could be taken off at the back.
I have had the entire center console out before when I installed my ABS kill switch - but even then, I couldn't see how that lid wanted to come off.
I will post my results (failure / success) later today.
How hard can it be to get this stupid lid off ? ...

Holy - that was easy .....
Resharp001 - you sir are a steely eyed missile man !
First off - there is a piece of moulding just above the rear cup holder, covering the rear part of the console. This bit of moulding was such a nice fit, I wasn't even aware of it !
All I had to do was use my finger nails to gently pull on it and it popped off.
Once that rear moulding came off (oh, and no worries re: the little LED light - there is enough extra wire to remove the moulding and set it aside) I could see the bottoms of two 'V' clips on either side of the lid hinge. I pushed these two clips up, and a piece of plastic moulding popped up around the hinge - exposing the bolts holding on the hinge / lid !
Arhhh - and to think of the hours (and beers) I spent puzzling of this job ....

Glad it helped. Honestly, I just had mine torn all apart to bedline the tub. Prior to that I had no clue that little panel was separate either. I have electric windows, and that wiring was pretty snug, not allowing for a whole lot of room to get your hand behind the panel to un-clip it.
Did you take any pics of this operation?
I'm doing this now.

[Sorry for the dog hair in my dusty Jeep.

Needs only a little pressure to pop off. Once its open, find the two v" tabs on the underside of the console. These hold on the flange that covers the bolts. Compare this photo with the next one. First you dont see the bolts, then you do... Flip up the flange to access the bolts.
