Default Chains... ...Again

I know this topic has been beat to death but... ...I'm going skiing in February and the roads up to big bear can be icy bastards. My question is, has anybody put chains on stock 255/75x17's? My '09 is bone stock with the Goodyear SRA's. Thanks!

I'm about to head over to big bear soon myself and i wonder how my 32" procomp Xterrain M/Ts will fare in those conditions... I've never driven in snow with M/Ts and have NO clue if its good/bad require chains/ not require chains or whatever...

From what i gather though if we get ice on the roads tires don't matter its studs/chains or....

It really sucks because our mountains always end up having crazy ice patches and not nice fluffy snow to tread through.

OK, I've done some research and it looks like cables will work with the stock clearance issue. If anyone has a part# or place to find some, please let me know.

I purchased a set of 16" rims/tires so I could chain-up going over Donner Summit during bad conditions. The TPMS lines looked too close to the (17") tires for my comfort level. Bolted those on and they still looked too close for me, so I got a set of inch and a quarter wheel spacers to keep the chains away from the TPMS lines. If I had hind sight, I'd have bought rims with different backspacing. Never liked cable chains. Just my opinion.
