I have tried searching on here and google but just can't find it. I know I read before there is a way to get the code for the check engine light on your own. Mine just came on today at 60,000 miles. Everything seems fine, I am guessing its that stupid gas cap problem.

I know its something like turn the key to on and then do some other things. Does anyone know the sequence?

You're correct.... Turn the key on and off three times leaving it on the third and where your odometer is should display a code if any

 

Most of the big chain auto parts stores will read it for free.

 

Thanks for the key trick. It worked but it didn't. It tried to find the code but nothing came up and it said done.

I guess I am now venturing to the local Auto Zone to have them check it out. I know they test for free.

 

Usually if it says done its just a very minor thing. Most likely trivial if anything at all
