Default Checking Automatic Transmission Fluid

Anybody else notice that The owners manual tells you to check the automatic transmission fluid with the shifter in "Park" but the dipstick has instructions printed on it telling you to check the fluid with the transmission in "neutral"? Which is it? There is a significant difference in fluid level between park and neutral. What do you guys do?

Check in park,, there is no difference in the two for level.. But for the most acurate reading shift thru the gears then back to park, wait 30 seconds then check..

The only difference is that in park the parking pawl is engaged. Make sure you check after you have fully warmed up the transmission by driving it 1st or you will overfill and damage your transmission.

Mine shows almost a one inch difference between park and neutral with the engine warm. WTF?
