clanking noises??
hello all, i've had my jk for about a month now with 3000km already (pics comming soon). I've noticed every time I shift there is a clanking sound comming from under the jeep (in the center to right passenger side), sounds like a metal to metal clicking, maybe the clutch? Does anyone else have this "problem" or is it another jeep thing?
Thanx

Ours does it also, and it also has a "chirp" noise along with it. The drivetrain feels like it's got 200,000 miles on it and no tranny / motor mounts.
The bucking and jerking when it the low range is almost laughable. Very sloppy drivetrain. But, it held up to a trip to Moab, a blizzard in CO, and my fiance learning to drive a stick. . . so it's tough.
Edit:. . . I didn't mean the laughable comment as a slam, but in that it almost makes you laugh when it gets to bucking due to the loose drivetrain.

Hmm, i would take your guys jeeps in to have them looked at, i don't have any of those problems in the slightest. I have a mild tapping sound when in 3rd gear (i have the six speed) and i hit a bump in the road... a few taps and thats all, only in third, only on good bumps in the road. You might want to have it looked at, just my two cents.
Mine does the exact same thing. Its done it since i drove it off the lot. Its not as noticable now since my exhaust is a lot louder but its definatly still there. Ive been worried about being too rough on the shifting. It clanks every time I hit a speed bump too. If yours held up to all that including a moab trip I guess I wont worry about it anymore. It just sounds like im about to drop my tranny all the time!
