Clicking noise when in 4 high from front axle. Any ideas?

I had a similar clicking noise(only in 4 wheel drive) and it turned out to be my front drive shaft. The boot on the rear cv joint was torn which caused the grease to shoot out. A new after market drive shaft cured the problem.
There is a chance that one of you axle u-joints could be bad. I had a bad bearing cap which totally was missing, it also made a clicking noise when turning to the right. The stub shaft yoke was wallowed out and I had to replace the whole right side axle shaft.

I have a manual...not sure if the op does, but mine has a throw out bearing that's crapping out...I do get some clicking in 4Wd but it is the throw out bearing just rattling more under the extra load and the sound is resonating more through the drive train...not saying that is your problem just something to also consider...if you have a manual.

Mine's doing the same thing. Also only when in 4wd. I'm pretty sure it's the driveshaft. A couple guys I was wheeling with said it's not coming from the wheels, but from further underneath. It started a couple months after I tore the boot on the front shaft.

Yep, I concur with the U-joint diagnosis. Had one of mine clicking loudly (no other symptoms such as vibration of banging when turning); replaced under warranty & all good now.
Obviously if you have an auto locker fitted (like the Aussie locker or similar) then they click when turning, however I'm sure you'd know if you had one of those fitted.
