I got the letter also but wasn't sure what it covered. Can someone explain what the issue is?

The clockspring is a ribbon with several parallel wires in it. It is coiled around the steering column, under the steering wheel. The controls on the steering wheel are connected to the vehicle through it. The air bag is connected through it, too.
The issue is, the wires in it can break from all the flexing.

Here is a good example of how it works, using a clock movement as an illustration.

I am the 3rd owner on my jk and I requested a build sheet a few months ago.....I just received my letter warranting my click spring to 10 years 150,000 mi....so make sure dc knows you're the current owner and you should get it covered, so if you haven't done so, request a build sheet...it will update dc's info on the current owner and you should be good

If i grab the wheel on the left and right, and do a push pull movement i have play in my steering wheel. Could that be from the clock spring being lose?

I don't think the steering wheel depends on the clock spring for a secure mount.

It simply states that Chrysler is extending the warranty from 3/36 to 10/150 on the clockspring. You do not have to be the original owner. This covers the issue of the air bag light on the dash staying on. It also states if you have paid to have this repair done that you are eligable for reimbursement by Chrysler. It does not specify what years are covered.
