Clutch Cracking and Cricking
Hello all, is their a way to grease or lube my clutch linkage, everytime I pushdown on the pedal to engage the clutch you hear a Cricking or crinching noise, it doesn't effect any performance, it's just anoying to hear...Any help would be apreciated.
Had the same issue. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the clutch master cylinder and greased the spring attached to the clutch pedal. They told me the diaphragm inside the clutch master cylinder was the creaking noise culprit. Anyway, no more noise since.
I cannot know if you have the same noise I did. Mine was "squeaking or chirping" when I depressed the pedal, back in 08. I had them perform the TSB below, and also replace the throwout bearing (there was a TSB out there for that also);
NUMBER: 06-004-07
GROUP: Clutch
DATE: October 26, 2007
SUBJECT:
Squeak-Like Sound Due To Manual Transmission Clutch Disc
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves the replacement of the manual transmission clutch disc.
MODELS:
2007 - 2008 (JK) Wrangler
NOTE: This bulletin applies to Wrangler vehicles equipped with a 3.8L engine and manual transmission (sales codes EGT and DEH respectively), built on or before February 28, 2008 (MDH 0228XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a squeak-like sound from the transmission clutch. This sound will occur when there is a change in engine torque. The squeak-like sound can be heard most often during: clutch engagement, acceleration (tip-in), and/or deceleration
maneuvers. This condition may be due to the clutch disc internal components.
The noise went away for about 3000 miles, then came back. I just ignored it from then on, until I no longer had a manual in the Jeep. Besides being annoying, it probably does no harm.
