Default Clutch or tranny??

On the way hone tonight, I pulled out of a store and started accelerating. 1st is fine, shift to 2nd give it some gas and the Jeep jerked like the engine was sputtering but the engine was fine. Same with 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th. If I gave it light gas it was fine. When I gave it a good amount of gas for a fairly good acceleration, it did the sputtering again. Is it my clutch, Tranny, or something else? Idling is fine. Thanks in advance.

Guess it was neither. My check engine light came on this morning on the way to the dealer. I turned it off and back on but it didn't give me any code. Isn't it suppose to give a code if the CE light is on?

The highlighted part above doesn't make sense. If it's sputtering, the engine isn't fine.

Getting a code is a little more involved than that.

1. To check your Jeep JK Wrangler’s DTC codes, simply insert your key into the ignition, turn it to the ‘ON’ position but do not start the engine. Then, push the key into the ignition cylinder and while holding it in, turn it to the ‘OFF’ position and then back to the ‘ON’ position (3) times straight making sure to end with it in the ‘ON’ position. It is important to keep pushing in on the key to prevent it from catching at the different positions along the way.

2. If you do step #1 correctly, all your dash lights will illuminate and your odometer will show up as a series of (6) dashes as shown in the pic to the left. If your Jeep JK Wrangler has any logged in any DTC’s, they will be displayed soon after the dashes appear. Write down the DTC(s) and check it/them against the list below to find out what they mean.

3. If your Jeep JK Wrangler has not logged in any DTC’s, the dashes on your odometer will be followed by the message ‘-done-’. Turn your key to the ‘OFF’ position and you will in fact be done.

Let us know what you found out at the dealer.

Oops I meant the RPMs were fine. The dealer called, the Oil Pan seal was leaking and they said cylinder 3 was misfiring. They swapped the plug from C3 and C5 to see if it the plug or wire. So far they say it is running fine. They are still working on it. What sucks is I just changed my oil on Sunday with Amsoil and I'm assuming they drained it and will replace it with factory stuff. Oh well atleast it was covered under powertrain warranty.

Looks like one of my E3 plugs went bad. Replaced and running fine now.
