Default Codes

Ok, so i have been getting some codes thrown at me. I took it to the dealer and they claimed it was just my "modded lights" They cleared the codes and stole 90 bucks from me. A week later i have codes again. So i checked the codes and wrote them down. Its a Evap Malfunction and a Leak. The codes are like P0440 and something else.

What should i do now? Is this a problem i can fix and clear the codes myself? or am i gonna have to leave it at a shop for a month?

Wasnt sure if anyone else has had this problem

Thanks

Zack

well 90$ in you should buy a scan gauge 2 and read and clear ur own codes
that p code for the leak could simply be a loose gas cap.

codes are posted on project jk pages

Every once in awhile I get an Evap canister code the day after I wheel.....

Service guy ( forum member ) says it is a stored code and nothing to worry about, just crawl under and check your hoses for a secure fit, cracking, also do a visual on the canister. You should be fine!

Ah ok thanks guys. So i should just clear them? I figure since they were cleared already and came back maybe its something that needs to be checked out.

Yeah i still have my warranty. But because the "problem" was due to "Aftermarket" items they said the warranty would not cover it........ Never again will i go to that jeep dealer. The people suck there.

Ok so, I just tightened my gas cap. It didnt seem loose at all so i wouldn't think that was it. But my question now is, assuming that was the problem, if it is fixed will the code automatically go away? or will i have to clear it even once it has been fixed?

I looked all up under there, but to be honest...I have no idea what im looking at lol. I mean i gave it a good gander...but ... Im just shootin from the hip

All the hoses were connected it seemed and i didnt see any breaks or ears or anything. I am afriad to clear it because if it is something that needs a dealers attention the codes may not be there anymore : But i want to make it go away
