Default Cold Weather: No Start..Then Oil Light

About 0 degrees Farenheit this morning. Had very little gas in the jk. Clean off the snow, it fires up.

Drive about 2 minutes to the gas station. Get gas.

Go to fire it up at the gas station. NOTHING. Just noise of it trying to turn over.

DId this for about 5 minutes, taking key out, trying again, turning ignition.

Eventually it fires up.

But the red oil pressure light stays on for the duration of my 10 mile trip to work. I get to work, park. Turn off the car, then turn it back on, with no trouble, and no oil light.

What gives? What was going on this morning and did I do any damage driving the ten miles with that light on?

Stumped.

...Only if the light was on because of lack of oil pressure. Did you check the dip stick?

Hopefully nothing is damaged. Never drive with the oil light on, it can cause severe damage , and the dealer can find out that you drove with the light on via their diagnostical tool, and you are out of an warranty. O*F is very cold , and has a effect on every metal part , and causes fluid molecules to bind together and cause issues like this. I would have someone scan your OBD-II computer for any pending codes, obvisously you will have them. Maybe the oil pump went on you, due to the oil being so thick. Maybe have the dealer look at it, I would not mention that you continued driving it when you saw the oil light.

Good Luck

When it is this cold it is also wise to keep the gas tank at least half full, your tank can freeze or gel up, which is another reason why you had your issue today.

Checked oil. Well within safe zone.

Just very curious because it started right off the bat, then didn't start when i put gas in it , followed by the low oil pressure.

I don't have an answer for you, but mine did the same no start thing the other night. No oil light though. Started right up, about 8 degrees out, drove it for ten minutes or so, parked it for about ten minutes. when i came out, it started but died right away, then would only crank for about the next 10 tries or so. then it started up and drove fine. Don't know what it was.
