I have been watching YouTube videos on how to replace the reciculating door actuator. It is difficult enough but, one video says to position the door in the up position and the other say position the door half way when installing the actuator. So, which is it? I only want to do this once and not take the chance of ruining another actuator.

It's not going to matter much. you're going to have to align the new actuator to the door, so you can plug the new actuator into the harness and either turn the recirc on or off on the climate control, then position the door manually to whatever you did and then mate the actuator up to the door. See how it could be either way depending on who's doing it?? I've not replace that on a JK, but I have replaced several of these actuators on several different vehicles. They almost always suck.
