Default Coolant question!

My coolant resevoir is now at the minimun mark. This is the lowest it has been since i bought the jeep back in 07. Usually, the dealership tops it off when I get my oil changes but I don't have one scheduled anytime soon. My question is, should I just pick up some Prestone from the store and fill it back up? No mixing with water needed? I just find it kind of weird that in the four years of ownership I haven't had to do this even during the hot summers of Fl.

Go to the grocery store and get a gal of distilled water for a dollar and fill the res back up.

Watch it for dropping level, you could have a leak, or leaky rad cap.

Other random thoughts ...

1. Coolant can blow out the tailpipe with a blown head gasket or cracked block.

2. If you off-road keep your coolant level near that min mark. Otherwise when you go up/down steep terrain you'll spill some out the overflow.

3. You must use Chrysler-compatible coolant or you risk system corrosion. Seriously--get the stuff specified in your owners manual.

Yeah, as MK said you may have a leak, particularly as you've never noticed much of a drop previously. Since it's an '07 you may be due for a new waterpump as these are known to start leaking after a few years.
